ABOUT CHANTIX
Chantix (Varenicline) is a trademark drug
of Pfizer Inc. and is considered to be a very effective a
quit smoking drug. The long and substantial clinical trials
undertaken by the medical scientists proved that Chantix
is indicated for the treatment of adults to quit smoking.
Chantix would help you to gradually give up smoking without
going through any of those nerve-wrecking withdrawal symptoms.
For those motivated to quit smoking, Chantix will provide
the benefits of reduction in the withdrawal symptoms.
It is different approach from other drugs in the quit smoking
category. Chantix treatment is very effective if you
make an educated approach.
How does CHANTIX work?
Chantix works through binding to the brain receptors activated
during cigarette smoking but doesn't contain nicotine. A small
amount of nicotine is released which, in turn, stimulates
the "reward pathway" in the brain. The advantage
of quit smoking with Chantix is in
its ability to ease symptoms of withdrawal.
How to start?
- You need persistence and commitment
to your goal to be successful in quit smoking
- Make decision about your quit date first.
- Start taking CHANTIX 1 week (7 days) before your quit
date. This lets CHANTIX build up in your body. You can keep
smoking during this time.
- Make sure that you try and stop smoking on your quit date.
If you slip, try again. Some people need a few weeks for
CHANTIX to work best.
- Most people will keep taking CHANTIX for up to 12 weeks.
If you have completely quit smoking by 12 weeks, ask your
doctor if another 12 weeks of CHANTIX may help you stay
cigarette-free.
Dosage:
Dosing of Chantix tablets will vary depending on the need
of the patient. However, the FDA is recommending a dosing
in a 12 week program with an extension of an additional 12
weeks, as needed. Physical nicotine dependence is reportedly
a primary reason smokers choose to continue smoking. With
the body's continual addiction to nicotine, smokers find the
withdrawal symptoms to be a primary reason to avoid cessation.
